These IBM ThinkPad 760XL model computers are convenient to use and carry, and they are a general business solution for the mobile, field or desk oriented professional.The IBM 9547 is a ThinkPad 760XL that adds a fast 166MHz(1) Pentium(R) processor with MMX(TM) technology and a standard 2.1GB(2) hard disk drive (HDD) to its already versatile features. These models still come with the large 12.1-inch (measured diagonally), 800 x 600 resolution, TFT LCD display, and the attractive styling of the tilted keyboard with built-in palm rest. These features, combined with the infrared (IR) transceivers and the highly functional ThinkPad UltraBay, provide you with almost everything you need in a compact, light-weight notebook computer. All have been designed to be compatible with Sound Blaster Pro audio and can accept a CD-ROM option. When you choose the Windows(R) 95 preinstalled operating system, system memory is a base of 16MB. These ThinkPad models emphasize fast performance and advanced function at a low price. Processor (166MMX)

These systems have a 166MHz Pentium processor with L2 cache and MMX technology.

Memory (48mb RAM)

The ThinkPad 760XL systems are designed to use non-parity, 144-pin, 64-bit EDO SO DIMM memory. 48mb of system memory (RAM) is standard, and can be expanded up to 104MB. Two internal slots are provided for the Memory Modules in the memory module adapter that is located under the hard disk drive. One or two 144 pin, 64 bit Memory Module(s)-(Memory Module = Extended Data Out, Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module) of 3.3 volt, non-parity technology can be installed in the system for memory expansion.

Storage Devices (2.1G HDD, 1.44FDD, 20xCD-ROM)

The customer-installable hard drive is 2.1GB standard. The drive is easily removed by lifting up the keyboard. A 1.44MB FDD comes standard. The ThinkPad UltraBay, also standard with the system, is an intelligent bay that switches its pinout signals to allow the installation of an FDD, second battery (Li-Ion or NiMH), HDD, or CD-ROM in what would normally be just the FDD bay. The installation of a second HDD requires the ThinkPad Second HDD Adapter optional feature. All of these systems are capable of using a CD-ROM option and all available hard disk drive options. A port is provided on the system to plug the Floppy disk drive (FDD) into when the FDD External Attachment Kit (P/N 66G3618) is used. The CD-ROM and the hard disk drive (HDD) must be installed inside the system unit.

LCD Display (12.1"TFT)

These systems come with a large 12.1-inch (measured diagonally), 800 X 600 resolution, TFT LCD display. This display provides superior viewing capability and helps lessen the glare indoors. The 12.1-inch screen provides 35% more viewing area when compared to a 10.4-inch screen. The 800x600 resolution TFT LCD display will display 256 colors.

Keyboard and TrackPoint III (84 key keyboard)

The keyboard has the familiar layout of a ThinkPad with a function key capability that allows you to quickly access system functions such as power management control. The keyboard tilts to a comfortable angle for typing when the system is opened and there is a palm-rest area. If desired, you can adjust the keyboard to have no tilt. The keyboard lifts up allowing access to the floppy disk drive (FDD) bay, HDD bay, CD-ROM, and battery for quick upgrades or battery changes in the ThinkPad UltraBay(TM). The TrackPoint III has accurate pointing capability and the "drag-and-drop" function of the click buttons is helpful. You can lock and hold the buttons in without continuously pushing on them.

External Display Connector -- External display port for connecting one of the supported VGA or SVGA displays that may be used in desktop environment instead of the LCD that is standard with the system. Also supporting an attachment of ISO 9241-3 enabled IBM monitors. It provides 75 Hz refresh rate and "flicker-free" display clarity. Dual Display of LCD and an external display is also supported.
PCMCIA slot -- The IBM ThinkPad 760XL new models systems, conforms to the PCMCIA Standard 95. Other PCMCIA adapters that comply with this standard may also function, but have not been tested by IBM.
AC Adapter

The AC adapter is an alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC) converter to supply the necessary power to the computer. The AC adapter also charges the battery pack when it is installed in the computer. PC Cards which do not support the power management function may cause the shorter battery operation hours.
